A lonely bit of yarn...

Above is my lonely ball of leftover Noro from my sweater...the yarn is wistfully looking out the window, awaiting a REAL winter here in New England. Back to the blog...
...Well, that wasn't too hard. Trip to LYS (The AWESOME Elegant Ewe) proved to be successful...if not a wee bit TOO successful! Not only did I find a skein of my Noro Big Kureyon to finish my Yarn Girls sweater, I also thought I'd pick up an extra skein of for a back scoop cardigan that knits up awesome on size US15 needles.
For Christmas, hubby took me to the LYS, sat in the car and read the paper while I "shopped", then came into the store to purchase the $233 treasure trove of yarn, goodies, and an awesome fused glass shawl closure for my cardigan...oh yeah, that's how I got on the "rabbit trail" of the Christmas trip to the LYS. In fact, the wrapped Christmas goodies were a blessing on Christmas morning, because I made a point not to look at the goodies once bought, so I'd be surprised on Christmas morn! I have short term memory already, and I'm only 43. Yeesh...
What did I get today? Besides the two skeins of yarn...the winter Interweave Knits magazine to drool over, and a birthday present for a good friend...she's never made socks yet, can you believe it!!!! I'm determined to have her as obsessed as I am with sock knitting.
Christine (said friend) made as a surprise gift for me these BEAUTIFUL stitch markers. Of course, now I need to hike over to her house to learn how to make some for my secret pal in a swap. Take a look at these stitch marker beauties.
Oh, and I gave in and joined the Sweet Sheep Socks Club...
Happy Knitting to you...

Hmmm...My First Big Oops with Buying Yarn, Etc...

Well, a kitty and I are up blog-reading early this morning, after making sure that the eldest teen was awake and off to work at 5 am...and, instead of heading back to the warm bed (in -4 degree weather)...
I decided to take the time to get up, wrap up and take the warm computer to the living room to blog in solitude...yes, it's my favorite time of day, after my time with the Lord and Bible reading when I first awake.
Anyway, I'm JUST about finished with my sweater in the Noro Big Kureyon...a super simple funnel neck sweater, to satisfy the "gotta get it finished" frenzy. Alas, as I see the end in sight...just a few more rows to finish the second sleeve's shoulder...I ran out of yarn. Yessireee...
and to think, I used to comment..."Gee, how can ANYONE run out of yarn? They must not plan well...I'll NEVER do that". Yeah, right...
So, after a breakfast at church this morning with the older folks (no, I'm not "older" yet, but hubby is)...it's off to my favorite LYS for more yarn. Hopefully they have the same dye lot, etc...but if not, I'll still finish this sweater...it's the principle.
Now, do you think I'll come out of the LYS with ONLY one skein of yarn? Not likely. Hmmm...must get more sock yarn (although I've only finished 2 pairs so far...it's a NEW obsession for me)...I need some things to send to my Mellow Rutabaga Secret Pal at Knittyboard.com, and a birthday gift (yarn, of course) for Christine, who's birthday is Tuesday.
Oh, by the way...I'm STILL waiting for the UPS man to bring me my yarn and swift...
and I've ordered some sock yarn from bluemoonfiberarts.com, ...for me and my secret pal...Yummy yarn, in the shaded solid colors of Beryl and Lovers Leap (see link). Take a look at these yarns and their colors. "Sweet", as one of my teens would say. Sweet, indeed.
Carry on...Knit away...

Do I have time for this? and everything else? Knit away, I say!!!

I've had to close my last blog...too hard to use. Here's the fresh start of my NEW blog...a blank slate... Hmmm... I look forward to keeping up with it, since I enjoy reading all of the others. Thanks to my Knitty-friends for their encouragement on this blog/project.
Where to start? Hmmm...get out the camera, and show you my WIP...a "no-brainer" to keep my busy while football is on (sorry to the sportsfans)...and I just LOVE the feel of the Noro Big Kureyon...so nice, unpredictable colorways, and a joy to work with.

Since joining the Knittyboard site, I've been greatly inspired by those who have knitting encouragement and expertise. Take a look at knitty.com and knittyboard.com for great fun, ideas, and camaraderie of fellow knitters.
I'm waiting for my wonderful UPS driver to arrive with the following boxes:
1. Chocolate Covered Cherries pink and brown(!) merino sock yarn from DiscountYarnSale.com
2. Rosewood size 0 dps...(call me mad)
3. finally, a ballwinder and swift...for me, myself, I and whoever wants to use it..
4. some books for my secret sis
5. More copies of Wendy Knits! and Sensational Knitted Socks for some friends...
6. I need to put the credit card away for now. ..in case the STR club takes me off their waiting list and into the club.

Time to find the camera...till later...
