Here's the offical blah blah scoop on Manos del Uruguay wool...this is posted from one of my very favorite online yarn shops, Kaleidoscope Yarns...
"Handcrafted, kettle dyed single ply soft spun worsted blended Merino and Corriedale wool yarn that is a true pleasure to work with and wear! The dying process creates a marbleized, striated effect, sometimes subtle, often dramatic effect. The yarn is created by the "Hands of Uruguay", a nonprofit organization comprised of more than 400 artisans in coopereratives scattered throughout the countryside of Uruguay that promote opportunities to rural women. Needles used are size 8-10, guage is 14-18 stitches per 4 inches. Each skein has 138 yards."
OK, this is a yarn that I adore. Manos. I've only felt with it, but it's on my list of lovely yarns. I've felted my Sea Glass felted bag from Lynn Wilson Designs, and it's drying...I still need to attach handles and embellishments.
Manos is a strange yarn for a newbie felter...so soft, lengths of very thin and then very fat ply...variagated color saturation, but the felted product is amazing.
So what does a knitter do? Order more. More Manos. More colors. More Knitting!

Still shoveling and organizing the household
Still cleaning, organizing, and getting housework done while vehicle is waiting to be repaired. I'm sure hubby is happy! Above is a snippet of a felted bag I'm knitting with Manos del Uruguay wool...in turquoise, aqua, and Caribe colorways...with a bit of Gossamer by Karabella. It is
30% kid mohair, 52% nylon, and 18% polyester. The LYS owner (in another state that I was visiting) urged that I try the Gossamer in the bag (it's a very popular pattern by a local designer)...we'll see. I haven't decided whether to knit the I-Cord or use the bamboo handles I've purchased, and I have coordinating bead fringe that is supposed to be applied as well. Next... the cuff of my Sockapalooza 4 sock...it's a simple pattern called Openwork Corded Rib from More Sensational Knitted Socks. Back to "Spring Cleaning!"

Knitty Spring Fling Goodies Arrive in NH
A surprise bag of goodies arrived from my Spring Fling pal...who I believe is Knitting Cat! This is called my "personal care package" by my SP...it has all of my favorites...A LOT of Swedish Fish (one of the bags above is already empty), Take 5 Bars, a Dunkin Donuts card (squeals of happiness inserted here), lotion, a bath fizzy ball, and a cute cat toy for Missy and Grady, my feline friends. Thank you, Knitting Cat!!! OK, I sure hope I've made an educated guess on my SP...the hint...a cat is her avatar, and her home state matches the return mail address. :)

What Have I Been Doing?
Alas, no photos yet to prove what I've been up to...
A beautiful wedding on Saturday, church services and Sunday School Promotion Night yesterday, and crafting a felted bag for my Spring Felted Bag swap! Photos of pattern and yarn will show up here tonight. I'm also working on socks for Sockapalooza... in Blue Moon Fiber Arts Lover's Leap colorway. A delightful yarn to work with!
My BIG project...shoveling out eldest son's room...he's in London this week...,I need to pack it, organize leftovers, roll up rugs, think about paint colors, and transform it to a craft/computer room! You have NO idea what a huge project this is! He's lucky that he's in Europe and not hearing what I'm thinking about the mess I've found under the bed, dressers, closet, etc.
Time to clean so I can knit later....
